In memory of

AUDREY WAIN

~ 2004

Audrey joined the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society, Caloundra Inc., in 1980. In spite of continuous health problems she remained an active member of the Society until her death in 2004.

Her committee contributions were considerable spending three years as editor of the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society newsletter, three years as Secretary of the Society and many years as Assistant Secretary.

One of her other interests was floral art and she put this talent to good use at shows, over the years producing many floral arrangement for sale. Audrey was also a willing worker in the kitchen and loved to help with any catering that was needed.

When she was offered the opportunity, she studied and became a competent AOC judge as well as a Sub Tropical Orchid Council Queensland judge. This entailed her travelling long distances from home. She also passed the course for ANOS judging but resigned when poor health and distance became major problems.

Audrey was an excellent grower who also did a lot of research into the use of orchids for food and medicine.

It seems fitting that the Society where she worked so tirelessly recognise her contributions over many years with this entry in The Australian Orchid Foundation Memorial Orchid Garden.

Compiled by the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society and the Sub-Tropical Orchid Council Queensland, Inc., who acknowledge information supplied by other societies of which Audrey was a member.

A donation has been made to the Australian Orchid Trust Fund by the Sub-Tropical Orchid Council, Queensland, Inc.
