The shadehouse was completed in March 2019 and formally opened with a ceremony on 20th May 2019

Extending the Living Orchid Collection
The funding is being used to construct a lockable orchid growing area adjacent to the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens Nursery. The building will provide a secure area for orchid cultivation and propagation. The project provides a dedicated space to better research propagation techniques and to nurture the Living Orchid Collection. It will enable continued development and extension of the orchid collection and enable the Tropical and Temperate Orchid Houses to focus on displays for garden visitors.
