Project Outline:

Hunter Region Botanic Gardens (HRBG), established 40 years ago, is an integral member of the regional botanic gardens in Australia. We have a living collection of over 3000 plants and an Herbarium collection of 14,000 specimens including over 500 terrestrial orchid specimens, the majority from the Hunter Region. 

HRBG operates as an independent non-profit organisation relying on funding from sponsorship, grants and donations. The gardens are maintained and managed by volunteers. 

The Orchid propagation/work area is in an advanced state of disrepair. The plant benches have become rusted and unstable, needing secure replacement. There is no work or storage area protected from the elements.

AOF has generously donated money to allow the Gardens to update our orchid potting area and protect our volunteers from the elements.
This involves the:

• Supply and installation of a metal double carport to provide a weather protected work area for propagation, protecting both orchids and volunteers from weather.
• Supply and installation of new metal benches to provide safe replacement storage for orchids being stored during propagation process.
