1904 ~ 1992
Hugh and Jess were well known Queensland orchid growers who grew their plants to perfection. They had a large collection of orchid species with hard cane dendrobiums and phalaenopsis being among their favourites.
Breeding of these genera was their specialty. Dendrobium Hugh McClintock (Den. Burnside x Den. Discovery) was registered in 1979. Others followed with Dendrobium Jess McClintock (Den. Hugh McClintock x Den. Hickham Deb) registered in 1984, honouring his wife.
Hugh and Jess served the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society for many years with great devotion and were always available to advise new growers how to care for their orchids.
The orchid houses of the McClintock’s were always open to the members of the Society and friends to view an amazing display of orchid flowers that were grown with loving care.
Vale…Hugh and Jess, each of you are together in that symbolic Great Orchid Garden and your efforts were not in vain.
