In memory of

ALLAN ROBERT ROBINSON

01-05-1921 ~ 24-03-2001

Allan died on the 24th of March, 2001. He was a quiet and wholly modest man.

With his wife Dot, he was an exuberant and willing worker for the various orchid societies to which he belonged. He grew orchids for twenty two years and was a member of the Orchid Species Society (Queensland), the Paphiopedilum Society, Eastern District Orchid Society and Brisbane Orchid Society.

Allan served in New Guinea in WW2, which possibly gave him a very sound knowledge of the orchids of Papua New Guinea and the incentive to study.

Allan played an active part in all of his societies at various levels and his knowledge of orchids was described as ‘encyclopaedic’.

He was the type of member all societies seek for their membership.

Allan was a member of The Australian Orchid Foundation (AOF) for five years. His name is entered in the AOF Roll of Honour for his many donations and active support.

Allan Robinson, you were held in great respect and in high esteem by your fellow orchid growers in your region.
