The long-awaited and much anticipated Australian Orchid Research Volume 7 ‘More New Taxa of Australasian Orchidaceae’ by David Jones and six colleagues is now available. This volume names and describes a staggering 184 new Australian orchids, which adds about 10% to the number of described orchid species for Australia. In addition, 9 new orchid species for New Zealand and 5 new orchids for New Caledonia are described. This research is presented in 19 individual research papers covered in this volume. Quite a few of the new Australian orchid names were used as manuscript names in David’s ‘A Complete Guide to Native Orchids of Australia’ (3rd ed. rev.), but there are many, many new orchids hitting the press for the first time.

The work includes a recharacterisation of some of the most familiar Australian orchids such as Caladenia carnea, Diuris corymbosa and (Para)Prasophyllum odoratum, followed by descriptions of new orchids related to these species. An attractive feature of the new volume is the inclusion of colour images alongside the text describing the new orchids.
