Jess was a foundation member of the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society, Caloundra Inc. The first meeting of the Society was held on 17th June, 1960.

Jess was well known in the Queensland orchid world and the orchid breeding circles throughout Australia and particularly in Melbourne which she visited from time to time.

Jess was President of the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society for a number of years and last held the office of Patron for which she was very proud to have the distinction.

A donation has been made to the Australian Orchid Trust Fund by the Sunshine Coast Orchid Society, Caloundra Inc.
